Release: OKGOP Statement on Tax Day
News, Press Release | 17 Apr 2012(Oklahoma City) - Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Matt Pinnell released the following statement on Tax Day:
“I have one question on Tax Day: would you like to pay more of your hard earned money to the government next year, or would you like to pay less? Republicans believe Oklahoma families know best when it comes to how they should spend their hard-earned money. Unfortunately, Democrats both here and in Washington believe government knows best,” said Chairman Pinnell.
“This fundamental disagreement cannot be understated, and it’s the central issue in the current debate about reducing and ultimately eliminating the state income tax in Oklahoma,” continued Pinnell. “Oklahomans are burdened enough by the federal income tax, and Oklahoma Republicans will continue to work to reduce the state tax burden on working Oklahoma families.”
“It’s time to put real leadership in the White House, someone who believes that Oklahoma families know better than the government when it comes to spending their money. Likewise, it’s time for Oklahoma Democrats to get on board with allowing working Oklahoma families to keep more of their hard-earned money. It’s time to responsibly phase out the state income tax.” concluded Pinnell.
