79 Great Republicans to Represent Oklahoma in St. Paul
Oklahoma City, OK—August 28, 2008: Chairman Gary Jones today announced the Oklahoma Republican Party’s delegation to the Republican National Convention to be held next week at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Oklahoma has 41 delegates and 38 alternates to the convention – three from each of the five congressional districts (15 total), 23 at-large delegates earned by electing Republicans to a variety of state and local offices and three for Oklahoma’s members of the Republican National Committee – Chairman Gary Jones, National Committeewoman Bunny Chambers and National Committeeman Lynn Windel. The congressional district and at-large candidates each have an alternate member.
"We look forward to representing the Sooner State and exploring the Twin Cities with some great Oklahoma Republicans,” said Jones. “In addition to the convention each night, we have a great schedule of speakers and other events. Some of the highlights are Wednesday’s breakfast featuring former Congressman J.C. Watts Jr. and Thursday’s breakfast with Congresswoman Mary Fallin."
Each day of the convention will be addressed by an Oklahoman. On Monday, September 1, Congressman Tom Cole (R-OK 4) will address the convention as part of the “Service” program; Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) will be featured as part of the “Reform” program on Tuesday, September 2. On Wednesday, September 3, Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett will speak to the convention as part of the “Prosperity” program. Thursday, September 4’s “Peace” program will feature Congresswoman Mary Fallin (R-OK 5) in the lead up to John McCain’s convention address.
